Wine and Dogs.
For a number of months, Decanter Magazine
has been running a small feature at the back of each
magazine, focussing on the so-called wine-dog. The dog of
the month is at home at a well- or lesser known wine
estate somewhere in the world.
The photographs show the dogs at their
happiest and there's a bit of trivia about likes and
dislikes. Little did I know that Decanter's editors were
inspired by an Australian book, called 'Winedogs'. It
features 150 wineries and their favourite pets (so far
only Australia and New Zealand, but there are plans to
go further afield. There's
also a website,
www.winedogs.com which shows a few of the more
famous ones. And very cute they are, well, most of them
anyway.
Time to introduce Cork & Bottle's very
own 'winedog' Dede:

Dede
Tricolour Beagle
Born in 1999
Loves: A sunny spot and
undivided attention
Pet Hates: Fireworks and car
journeys
Favourite wine: Anything but
Merlot, but she'll drink your coffee as well if
you're not paying attention.
